Start Time: 8:30
End Time: 11:00
Astronomy Public Nights at the Cronyn Observatory occur weekly during May though August (every Saturday evening, 8:30-11pm), and monthly during October through April. General Information: There is no charge, and no reservations are necessary; come and go as you please throughout the evening. The University has free parking on the weekends. This is a time to view the skies through the telescope and to pose your favorite questions to the astronomer hosting the evening. Objects viewed vary with the season, but might include the Moon, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, binary stars, star clusters, planetary nebulae, or galaxies. There is nothing like seeing these wonders with your own eyes! There will also be a presentation of general astronomical interest to be held in the lecture theatre at one or more times during the evening. In the event of cloudy skies, the observatory will still be open for slides and a look at the telescopes, but closing time might be earlier. Members of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada are also on hand with their portable telescopes set up on the Observatory balcony and front lawn. If you're interested in doing some astronomy as a hobby, these are the people to talk to.

2017 Summer Camp Information & Schedule We are finalizing plans for our upcoming summer camps! Cost: $70/week (discounts availble to families in financial need) There are two short weeks due to holiday Mondays. For those weeks, registration is only $60. A $15 non-refundable fee per family for cancellations to cover administrative costs. For families who cannot afford registration, the church will provide a confidential discount. Please let us know if you require financial assistance. Each week is limited to TWO grades. This ensures that sports, games and craft will be appropriate for the children's ages, and sports will be safer as children are closer in size and ability. Parents are to provide snacks & lunches for each day. New this year: Our August weeks will include some Christian content. The weeks in July will continue to remain "secular". While the details of the Christian content will be determined by our summer camp staff, the intent is that some of the crafts and games will have a Christian theme or relate to Bible stories. They will likely include prayer at meal times or other times during the day. All days go from 8:45 to 4:00, with a lunch and two snack breaks (food not included). Here is the summer camp schedule, for the children's GRADE NEXT SEPTEMBER: July 4-7* Grades SK-1 (10 spaces available) FOUR-DAY WEEK (Holiday Monday) July 10-14 Grades 2-3 (18 spaces available) July 17-21 Grades 4-5 (19 spaces available) July 24-28 Grades 6-7 (20 spaces available) July 31-Aug 4 Grades SK-1 (12 spaces available) August 8-11* Grades 2-3 (15 spaces available) FOUR-DAY WEEK (Holiday Monday) August 14-18 Grades 4-5 (22 spaces available) August 21-25 Grades 6-7 (20 spaces available) LAST UPDATED: April 28, 2017 Camps are limited to 27 children/week.
